This is my first tech demo for an animated web series I would like to make. It isn’t anything special, just a test to find out if it’s possible.
As an open-source software enthusiast, I want to create all my content in Linux. I think I have found all software I need to create a simple animated web series that takes place inside a video game.
To create the pixel art, I am using Aseprite. It’s open source, the code is available on GitHub, but it isn’t free. There is a free version called LibreSprite, but that project doesn’t appear to be in active development.
After I draw everything in Aseprite, I put it all together in the free, open-source video editor Kdenlive. This is where I can add music, text, and even use key frames to move some pixels around.
